IMAGINE
Now my life seems like it’s in the past
Reborn to be reburied
The wind curls the winter up from the sea
For the warmth to perish

In the storm we sing and sway
Till the clouds are covered in dust
We swim through our very own sea
To see the land that we have created

And the darkness falls and blankets our eyes
We can’t see, but it doesn’t matter
A spark shines light into our imaginations
We communicate through our thoughts

What hasn’t happened seems like a memory
That lives inside our dreams
Never been spoken of
But feels like a burning fire

Your eyes like a picture of the moon
As your heart warms the world we see
Travelling through time
Looking back on our misfortunes

Now both worlds will watch
As we emerge together
Not a simple dark feeling
To shade over our minds

Till we sleep I will not forget
About this dream lost in a facade
Only we will understand
What will lie beneath our soil

You crawl in a cave like a shy baby
Hiding smiles and those cold eyes
Singing in a storm where no one hears you
Going unnoticed with that pretty face

All your words have been unsaid
But we remember them from a dream
And we sit around the table
Competing for your glance

You sit there so gloomy
With no smile on your face
Colonising complex locations
You’re the first to reach the skies

Cutting through our signals
Beating us all to space
We’ve lost again, trailing your advance

We stand back at home with our eyes above
At the flashing colours of the night
And we see you sputnik dancing amongst the stars
Oh you seem so artificial
As you spy on the world
With all your enemies one step behind you
Calling on the countdown
She takes our pictures
With the prints in her hands
That smile so far and rare
It only lasts for seconds

She leaves the world tainted
On arrival a tail of life
Fixated on what we can’t comprehend
Her power a painted barrier

In our minds we fight each other
Contestants competing to lose
None of us can win
We are just a thorn in her side

She’s nothing when she’s something
Her sighs heard across the globe
The audience will sit to obey her command

You sail in the darkness
We can only see you on earth
As you fly above us
Looking at the world’s faults
We cry when you’re gone
We know you can’t see us
You complete your orbit
And come visit us when you like
We’ll be waiting sputnik

Time

Time controls everything that is touched

Sending us back a million years

Then it seemed easier than today

It takes a second to sprout a thought

And several years to become a doctor

The dependable clock which depicts the outcome of our day

Is just a ticking item, hanging on our walls for display

We all fear the future, and forget our past

Casting away the thought that one day the future will be behind us

Ticking backwards in time

All the numbers man created

Fit in schedule with one another

The continuum of life revolves around time

A baby is born and a person has died

The world is back where it started a year ago

Somehow millions of years older

Staring up and watching the stars

Wondering how many years they have seen

While the sun provides its daily shining it has done for everything that has ever lived

And the last thought that goes through our heads is that one day brings everything closer to death

Patience can be hard for some

But the anticipated wait brings what is desired

She makes a mistake of her past

Redemption doesn’t come with a clock

But instead with patience

And one day time will be on your side

Wake Up

I see the happiness in this world

For I have created this

Just over the other side of the hill

Is a flowing stream of hot springs

The people I have created are all pleasant

I am the manipulator, the founder of my own will

I yearn to keep this place a haven

A place of love and peace

All my Inhabitants worship me

I feel loved, loved by whom I have created

No man will seek my power from from my reign

It’s me, just me, the creator of all that is said to be good

A perfect world with perfect inhabitants

All seek a sense of belonging now

They cry when I do not talk to them

And they kill each other when they are filled with hate

It’s time to wake up and face reality

I am no god, I am a madman, a manipulator

Struck with a sense of false power and incompetence

I don’t deserve to be worshipped, no man deserves to be worshipped

Every man deserves life, if they can concede

I am no different to these people

I am just a leader who thrives off it

Wake Up.

THE SMELL OF UNWANTED CHANGE
The time of day has come
Now the people spark up their fires
The sunset can’t decide whether to be pink or orange
And it’s calm, and peaceful, and the trees sway silently
All the chatter of people ringing in my ears and it brings me happiness
The vast frontier is so sweet, and colourful, and happy
It smiles for us, and we smile back to the land
The buffalos watch over us, our sacred creatures smile
The smell of our food gets stronger by the minute
As it spins over the flashing fire
In the moonlight, my eyelids become heavy
A thousand stars glow
I could die here and give my body back to the earth
And I would be content, with the life I have led
My last glimpse of happiness was the people falling asleep
And the fires still raging throughout the camp
As the first strobe of morning light shines on my face
I instantly smell a change, something I can’t understand
It’s a smell of unwanted change
Something that strikes fear throughout my body
In a quick second, I charge from the ground and stride uphill
Peering over as far as I can see
I see some dark smoke that smells of death
There’s an occasional loud bang that frightens me and sends me off my feet
Men, with some strange item in their arms come raging up the hill
I don’t think twice before I bolt down the hill
I may not know their intentions, but I know what an angry group of people looks like
I try to get my people to Wake Up! By screaming my lungs out
As I try to explain the situation, the people stare in disbelief
But I’m too late, those men come crashing down the hill at doubled speed
With their items pointed at us and releasing something I can’t comprehend
My people fall, and scream, and cry, and die
My people try to defend by throwing our tomahawks at them
But their items are to advanced for us
I run, and run, till I find a big tree, I start to climb it
I perch myself on the highest branch
I knew the earth could save me
I make no movement, no sound
I just watch the devastation that has come about in a matter of two minutes
Two hours later, the people are throwing my people into a ditch
I look around and notice a group, with their items killing our buffalo
I don’t know who these people are
But I don’t like them, or this smell of change
All of a sudden, my earth has given me this power
I learn I’m not content to give my body to the earth yet
But it’s given a piece of itself
To help me beat this unwanted change

Renegade

The sun shines the shadow of a man

Printed onto the face of his house

As he sits listening to the wind and blowing his smoke rings in the blue sky

His pasty white face and rippled stone eyes

Stare straight out to a long stretch of never ending thick sand

After his hard working day, he relaxes and scopes the desiccated land

He can hear nothing apart from the creaking of the chair and his occasional puff of smoke

Something is different about this day

He smells something in the wind

The silence is stranger than normal

On the far horizon he notices a subtle movement

So discreet that he throws his smoke in the sand and stomps it with his foot

Stands up and paces himself to a position so he can block the sun

Peers deep into the very heart of the west

He spots some cavalry riding fiercely with the low sun behind them

In a sudden movement he runs inside to fetch his rifle

He knows very well what they’ve come for

After years of sitting out on his chair in patience

His day of redemption has arrived

But he was not ready for it

Never would he accept his fate for something not worth dying for

He never believed in the system of corruption and mistrial

His heart is on fire burning any cold feeling he has

His shadow has now vanished

He works his bolt, aims, and shoots

The first rider falls

A barrage of his bullets tears the men to shreds

A sigh of relief now cools his boiling blood

He calmly places his rifle on the porch

Then paces himself to the bloodied scene

Stares at the dead men for a few moments

The horses stand still puzzled without an order

The man paces himself proudly back into his house

Gathers his belongings and the rifle from the porch

Marches back to the scene

Swings his leg onto one of the horses

Places himself comfortably on the saddle

He smiles, finds a cigarette, lights it up and starts puffing

He gives the horse a cheeky kick and off he rides into the unsettled dusty desert

The unsettling smell drifts away and the silence starts to speak

Him and his horse now running freely against the law

Now they roam, now they are renegades
